About 30 minutes ago, the Pottermore Insider revealed that all Welcome Emails have been sent:
Earlier today, we sent out the one-millionth Welcome email – which means that everyone who successfully registered for the Beta should now have access to Pottermore.
We’re expecting the site to be extremely busy over the next 24 hours as people log in and explore Pottermore for the first time. As such, you may have to wait to sign in but please keep trying if you aren’t able to gain entry straight away.
This means that if you completed the Magic Quill and received the email verifying your successful registration, your account has been activated. If you have not received a Welcome email, then you should still assume that your account has been activated and that you can login whenever the site is available.
Of course, right now, there is very high demand for the Pottermore site, and the site is not always available. I am currently inside, but I will be logging out and probably not logging in again for the remainder of the day. After all, there are a lot of people who are about to start exploring Pottermore for the first time.
If you are one of those people, have fun! And let us know what you think about the site.
BTW, there are currently 493,795 students inside the Great Hall. That number, though, is less than half of the Welcome emails that have been sent, and many more students will be entering the Great Hall once they have passed through the sorting.
See you in the Great Hall!
ETA:
514,064 539,267 551,263 570,084 605,479 616,447 students in the Great Hall.
Houses currently:
Ravenclaw: 154,510 members
Gryffindor: 154,021 members
Hufflepuff: 153,997 members
Slytherin: 153,919 members
Wooo!
Welcome to Pottermore, everyone! Looks like they really are going to try to get the Beta Testers in before October.
The next question will be when they open the site to everyone. My personal wild guess is Halloween.
I’m hoping for Halloween. :)
Welcome everyone! I will try to not access for a day or two to allow others to explore. Here’s hoping we even our numbers with Ravenclaw to make the race for the cup fair!
My guess is the week of Halloween with a special Halloween activity and exclusive content unlocked. Maybe make potions worth double and have butterbeer and other goodies.
It will take awhile to get the site ready to handle a large # of users so, my guess is that until they are sure that the site is equipped to handle at least the 1 million beta folks they won’t open the site to the public. Hopefully they can pull it off by Halloween without flashing the ‘site overwhelmed due to demand’ stuff. Waiting for the welcome owl has been an awful experience for me; if the poor people who’ve been waiting for the site to open to all finally hear its open but can’t create an a/c ‘coz the site is down it will be a worse experience for them. They have my sympathies already and just for that, I am going to not log in to P-more until its is open to all and let the newbies have a better chance to explore the site.
@diele: I hope they do have something special planned :-) it would be so awesome to be able to explore Zonko’s merchandise!
Yeah, I’m hoping they get the site really nice and stable before they open the doors. There’s no way, imo, that they can open the doors on Saturday. And Halloween is a better date in the Potterverse anyway. :)
I also hope they do something special at the end of the Beta test. That would be great!
End of October it is :) http://insider.pottermore.com/2011/09/beta-and-beyond.html but they say they’re going to give registered users access in phases so I don’t know what that’s going to be like. I am looking forward to the changes they intend to make
Yeah. I just saw that. So, it looks like one question has been answered: the site will not be ready for October launch.
yah got my enter letter, but the site is 2 busy. i’ll keep trying just glad i got my letter was ready to give up. purpleseeker106 over and out lol
So what do you think? I see you’ve got a wand and have gotten sorted. :)
Is Gryffindor the House you wanted?
Couldn’t access Pottermore for the whole day due to too much demand. Poor folks that never got to play on it and now it’s down.. was it the same for everyone here?
I wish I could get on again! I was in for ten minutes and then, OUT! The website’s been full ever since! :(
Have you gotten in since? I’m able to get in periodically, but I’m not playing much right now so that new people can play.
Well, it took so long to get the email out that now I am in no hurry. The luster having worn off, I figure I can be patient awhile longer. Why rush now only to become frustrated. NightWing and I will wait until it gets settled. Besides, the Sorting Hat may try to balance out the disappearing Huffs who are leaving in a huff so I’ll cool my heels a bit longer. And Atticus (NW) has stated that because the Hat made a mistake putting Cedric in Hufflepuff it can happen again! (He’s 7 1/2).
So, I will see you soon and hope to ‘friend’ you there.
Dragon Prophecy
I think they might spend a few days with glitches and then run some major fixes – like they did last week. Once they ran those major fixes, the site was amazingly stable… until they sent out the massive email mailing.
So my hope is that they will be able to make it much more stable now that they’ve got the full million accounts activated.
I hope NightWing is doing okay with all of this.
